2019 • Iceland - Ring Road
With temperatures rising faster in Iceland than anywhere else in the world, the effects of climate change are becoming very noticeable. This summer, temperature records were broken once again. Ice sheets and glaciers are melting, changing the landscape, and volcanoes are becoming active. The economy is also changing, especially in terms of tourism and fishing. With most of the trees gone, Iceland is making efforts to plant new ones and generate geothermal energy to reduce CO2 emissions. We went on a road trip along the Ring Road and took photos of Iceland as it undergoes these changes. It's predicted that the glaciers that currently keep Iceland's volcanoes cool will disappear in 50 to 100 years, causing even more drastic changes to the landscape.
